Where does this figure of 'another thousand or so' come from? From the Hamas Media Office no doubt. Used by you as the absolute truth with no questioning whatsoever. In fact nobody questioned the Gaza Health Ministries figures until the Israeli military and (again) the US President recently decided they were "Hamas." That's because they have been reliable when recording previous massacres: "International news agencies, humanitarian workers and rights groups have often used the ministry’s numbers when an independent source is not available. “These figures are professionally done and have proven to be reliable,” said Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch’s Israel and Palestine director. He noted that the numbers do not differentiate between civilians' and fighters’ deaths. After the conflict, the U.N. humanitarian office usually publishes final numbers on deaths based on its research into medical records. In many cases, the U.N.'s counts have been fairly close to the Gaza Health Ministry’s numbers. After the 2008 war, the ministry reported 1,440 Palestinians killed; the U.N. reported 1,385. In the 2014 war, the ministry reported 2,310 Palestinians killed; the U.N. reported 2,251. And in the 2021 war, the ministry reported 260 Palestinians killed; the U.N. reported 256." -This information is available so widely it's clear that its yourself that has chosen to rely on quite unreliable - indeed, total propaganda sources to support your doubts in the form of the Biden and the IDF. -I personallyreckon the death rate is likely to be an underestimate as it's becoming: if it is not already, quite uncountable with many, many hundreds still under the rubble, hospitals destroyed and no infrastructure to deal with any of it and with even more bombing. Huge deaths are to be expected when you deliberately carpet-bomb captive highly populated civilian areas. Your doubts remind me of the kind of denial we see in the supposed "doll" story the the Israeli media and it's world accomplices recently claimed not to be a dead Palestinian baby at all...as though Gaza didn't have more dead children available than dolls. |
