I had typed a long rant of NIL, but the bottom line seems to be NIL has professionalized athletics, and it will result in a shrinking of college athletic opportunities for many.

Athletes monetizing social media and marketing deals seems fine to me. The athletic departments having any involvement doesn't seem necessary, and unlimited free transfers ruins it for me.

As more schools can't afford to be at the top giving cars and cash to athletes who hardly go to class, they will cut athletics. Olympic sport programs will suffer. Maybe the niche of just the scholarship remains enough to get commitments for a year or two. I just don't like the direction it has gone.
