Problem is, kids dont report bullying to school admin/ teachers. School curriculum is filled with moral lean. At least they were when my kids were in school. The big one when my kids were in school was "just say no". It was integrated into the english & science curriculum. Teaching my children drugs were "bad". On the surface, hey, thats great. But then when my kids refuse/resist prescribed treatment from dr's bc "all" drugs are bad? And id argue, drugs arent bad. Its addiction that is bad. Youngsters see things black & white. Like it or not. Schools became day care & guardians. I get it. There are more crap parents than good parents. But textbooks are often filled with bs agendas. Id just rather the schools focused on knowledge. The feds may not control the schools- run by the states. But its the fed dollars that are the lionshare of local budgets. As such- to get fed dollars. Those state run schools were firced to adopt federal mandates such as no child left behind & just say no. Which, btw. Were both epic failures as proved by continued declining test scores. No child left behind was a ruse to dumb down minimum standards whilst allowing the military recruitment access to high school students Just say no was a joke- tell the kids no, Meanwhile the feds import cocaine to fund illegal wars in el salvador/ nicaragua. You know who needs moral education? Congress, the judiciary. Lobbying is nothing more than legal bribery. Encouraged & acceptable. When that is the planned norm? Well. As they say- follow the money. And dont waste time wondering why politics attracts grifters. In the meantime, leave the moral education of my children to me. Educate the children instead, concerning bankrupt morality & integrity inside our government and corporations. I raised 2 engineers & a scientist. But i regularly discussed "what did you kearn in school today johnny" with my children. Not everyday, but often enough. I had to bring my kids to the library to offer a counterpoint to the crap they were being taught. I dont blame teachers/ principals. They are given curriculum to follow. Politicians, taking bribes from text book providers/authors decide curriculum which are run by Corporations with agendas that prioritise stock valuation over integrity. What I do know. The last group of school age children I was around. Struggled with math. Couldnt write a paragraph that made sense. Struggled to spell. Didnt know how to use a dictionary and had never heard of the periodic table. Those 4 boys ranged in age from 3rd grade to HS sophomore. All 4 wound up HS dropouts with a GED and a parents signature on the 17 year olds waiver form assigning their rights/ guardianship to the military. Myself? I was learning basic algebra in 6th grade. I had the periodic table memorized before the end of 7th grade. Wrote my 1st 4 chapter novella in 6th grade. I understood basic civics, chemistry, biology and anatomy before I graduated high school. As did most of my classmates. I didnt have exceptional parents. Mostly they couldnt be bothered. Both worked long hours when I was young. My older brothers were hooligans. I did have exceptional teachers in those most important years the 1st 7 years of schooling when a childs curiousity is lit afire. None of this that was true in 1974, is true in 2024. Is it that hard to look up where it all changed? Facts suggest via the country's test scores, that somehow we have managed to break one of the greatest education system created. I wonder. In any town in the usa. In 2024. Can you find 1%? 5%? Of 6th graders that have read 5 books in their lifetime? Why is that? Ask google. |
