Bc Vivik Ramaswamy is partially correct concerning american mediocrity. But he doesnt tell the full truth. Indian visa workers taking engineering jobs are paid at a 60-70% clip of what a full us citizen could exoect to be paid(inflation adjusted) 20 years ago. 2 of my sons are engineers. One is a software engineer. According to him. He & his collegues of usa birth are faced with cut rate/pay competition from foreign born, us educated visa holders. Businesses apparently prefer to hire & promote visa workers at least partly bc of the cost savings. At least thats how it feels to those working inside the industry. It doesnt change the fact that american public schools are graduating a far higher rate of wanna be you tubers/ influencers than wanna-be tech engineers. Colleges graduating us citizens Far more often to become lawyers than scientists. More business majors than scientists & engineers combined. Meanwhile, american public education argues which version of history is to be taught. When prayer in PS 309 can again be the norm. And my favorite dumb idea. Why new methods rather than memorization should be the emphasis on teaching math. The path to mediocrity is full speed ahead. |
