I started looking at it many years ago when Dad was still around - he gave me loads of useful info.
Over the years I have done more, off an on, as it is very time consuming.
By chance stumbled on a burial record for my Great Grandmother (ever looked at Find a Grave?).
I uopdated my Family Tree in Ancestry - did the DNA thing a while ago and I get a fair few "hints" about potential and actual blood relatives.
I find the whole thing very fascinating, my Daughter has absolutley no interest so when I go it will all go in the bin, but it is a project I shall continue chipping away at.
Found a couple of skeletons that Mum knew about but was not supposed to tell anyone, but in the main my ancestors worked mainly on farms and in local quarries.
No one achieved anything of any note as far as I can see, but I like going to the places where they lived and taking a look around - mostly within about 15 miles of where I live, except for one of my Great Uncles who died on the Somme and is buried in Belgium.
Went there many years ago and it was quite moving to stand by his grave with Mum and Dad.
Who needs a signature anyway......
