I don’t understand all the negative attitude, just because someone wants to do something different! Eight years ago, after a three day workshop and help from a friend who had a little bit of experience, we managed to successfully construct an adobe dwelling which wasn’t the norm here at all. No local contractor could have helped me in this endeavor except for a few locals in Los Ingenios who still make clay ovens and where I found two ladies who knew how to plaster the inside of the adobe with clay. It still stands with no problems and even survived Hurricane Patricia, losing only a few palm fronds off the palapa.
