Hangler, I think you need to read Rex's posts in full a couple of times to make sure you understand all that he's saying. You've managed to focus on one piece of criticism that Rex had about MP's and their salaries rather than focussing on the other 4 paragraghs of his letter to the Editor.
Do you actually know what an MP gets paid or what they do?? Basically the salaries start at $141,000. Not sure what any of them do day to day but you just have to look at the teacher pay system, Novopay, to see how a MP can run and hide and not do their job because they choose not too i.e Hekia Parata Education Minister, Craig Foss (MP Napier),Associate Education Minister. They wouldn't give a stuff who said what about them as it will not effect their pay and they won't listen anyway cause they don't have to. You mention Option 4 the Kahawai Legal challenge that ended up in the court system because the MP's and the Ministry of Fisheries wouldn't listen and the court action concluded in favour of Option4.
Both the HB Gamefishing club and the Mahia boating and fishing club conducted boat ramp surveys of all fish caught at every competition day/weekend that they run. They then collated and sent this information to the Minister only for him to reply that it wasn't scientific data so it wasn't viable. They have this belief that when the trawlers catch over the TACC that the stocks are good so they increase the TACC. I'm currently Pania's weighmaster and have spoken to a few guys at the HBGFC about adding our data to theirs.

As to the NZACA, YOEY feel free to correct me but I'm sure the NZACA stance on matters such as this is for us to support RECFISH.

Rex put forward his opinion in response to another letter to the editor. Obviously the Editor of that paper thought his reply was good thought provoking comments made in support of the first letter and thats why he was published.
He had some very good points that most poeple on this board agree with.
