Interesting. Can I just add this. Yesterday saw a meeting in Napier over this very matter. Attending along with some high profile people was the NZACA President. We are worried about our fishery and we are being proactive. The fishery in Hawke Bay is on a decline. Why?? There are many unresolved factors but personaly and in agreement with most of you, the trawlers all out attack in the bay is one of the main issues.

Mate, with due respect, whilst I agree with the fact that there is a right and a wrong way to handle this, the Governments of today and those of the recent past do not give a rats arse about the NZ fishery as long as the money is right. Our seas are constantyly raped by overseas companies and likewise some of our own. I say "some" and yet nothing of any substance is done about it. I, to, could post photos of gurnard caught recently but what we are talking about is constant takes. Last year the Pania Surfcasting Club weighed less than 20 gurnard over the 2011/12 season. I have done that myself in the past in two days although not consecutive ones.
Guys let me assure you all that the NZACA is mindful of the state of the fishery and are being proactive on it.
