To add to James comments, I think its important you consider a Ministers salary.

By my reckoning Hanglers fine upstanding Minister recieves the princely sum of $257,800. (Or is it ministers, Dont they have a couple for Ministry of Primary Industries) Furthermore if he's renting a property ( or buying a further property away from his home electorate) he gets a hand out of another $37,500. Then of course he gets his free air fares, meals, expenses and his mysterious ministerial credit credit card.

Needless to say he will have his Ministerial BMW and trusty driver to cart him and his mates from the fishing companies off to lunch at the finest resteraunts . No doubt he has a well heeled retirement deal which I think still remains in place for those politicians who were in parliament before public opinion got wind of it.

I cant help but yawn at the Hanglers concern that the poor old Minister works such long hours, maybe even 7 days a week. Gosh poor fellow. I'm sure no on this site works 7 days a week. Maybe 6.5 perhaps and I'll bet most of you dont have a car, your food and lodgings paid for and an hourly rate of $88.00 an hour.

Oh but he has such a huge responsibility..... Boo Hoo

Really, but doesnt he have a huge ministry full of minions running around at his beck and call including some equally over paid prat calling himself a CEO and doing all the "work".

And lets face it... Who really makes the decisions. The Minister or the massive body of interest groups who constantly have his ear and tell him what to think. Its easy to make decisions when there being made for you by your campaign contributors and a free market ideology.

Oh and whats the good ministers future. Well eventually he will be shown the door by a tired electorate depending on where he sits and immediately he'll be shoved back on the list by his party mates to collect a retirement MPs $141,00 and 3 years to go and find a suitable board, quango or some other body to go and work on and find an alternative way of sticking his snout back into the public trough. If all else fails I'm sure there will be a few fishing companies looking for a new director with experience of how to wrought the system. He''ll do ok and he'll have saved a milion of your taxes if he's smart .

Meanwhile you will pay your taxes,struggle to pay your bills and still struggle to catch a fish while being bathed in assurances that all is well in the fishery and that good uncle Government knows best.

Well let me remind you of the graphs I referred to as an example of MPI efficiency.

The reported graphs seem to show a decline in commercial catch from 2007 to 2011,
They seem to be averaging the same or less fish each year yet the quota seems to remain the same.

In 2010 they caught 853, 000 kg a mere 128,000 kg more that there TAC. How does this happen?

In 2011 they only took 200,000 kg even though there quota hasnt changed Why is this? Maybe there being conservationists? Yeah Right.

Could it be theyve stuffed the fishery and couldnt get near there quota? Which still regardless remains the same? WHY?

Well MPI dont know? As they said no one can make a decision about the numbers. Oh well........ Just leave it as it is then. No one will notice.

Are these the reasons why you cant catch a gurnard? In political speak one can only speculate? Of course you should respect your fine reasonable Minister and his merry band of subjects and beg him for an audience to discuss this ? Beg for some crumbs peasants.
