Some interesting points and some venting. I can say, with hand on heart, that these changes weren't made without a lot of consideration and discussion. The way these rules are written still allows those Elite casters to turn up at Nationals or any other NZCA sanctioned event and set World records as long as they are using the compliant "Line/Sinker ratio etc. At the same time it allows the average Joe Bloggs to cast using what he casts with each and every time he goes out fishing.
I can assure everyone that the NZACA does "NOT" set out to upset Sponsors. They are too bloody hard to get. Personally, this is the wrong forum to appoint blame re the upsetting of Sponsors. I have a phone.
As for the bust offs in Gizzy. Our club had five of the men competing and our Lady competitor have bust offs due to wind knots directly attributed to the heavy Leader. I have been casting reasonably competitively for four years and this was the first time I have had this problem and it happened twice.
Like Chad, I have confidence that there will be no more bust offs than usual. One shouldn't get drawn into the Give Way rule effect, there will be no calamitous disasters.
As the parent body, the NZACA has to be seen to listen to everyone. I am absolutely behind these changes as I was for the introduction of the new rules last year. I am passionate about all our Members being able to achieve their personal goals and I truly believe these rules open the doors for each and everyone of them. Those that wish to attain world record status and those that just want to have a chuck.
