That was an exceptional cast, no doubt there. But you took an ordinary rod that day and "pimped" it up. From my understanding, that so called fishing rod had .25mm line, .45mm leader, so your set was run to the letter of the laws and fine tuned, which is great. But for the rest of us, again who just want to have a crack, very few of us use a 3 ounce sinker, we use 5's. We don't run .45mm leaders. We just keep it simple. Sometimes the leader is .43mm sometimes its .55mm just what evers sitting on the self that was surplus from another occasion. You may have even had a big tail wind that day, who knows....... Still a great cast with the gear you had, but, again it was run to the letter of the laws. That cast was also an off the ground cast, Phill you are regarded as one of the best in NZ at that, how many off the ground casters were there at the Nationals? Most just thump the rod over and wing it, no complications.

You guys are great when it comes to welcoming people to the casting events, but again, most of us just go fishing, we take the advice once a year on the casting day at a nationals and just have a crack and hope to better ourselves. Well over 100 people at the Nationals. maybe 5 in the running for top casting realistically. Majority just want to fish, and do the casting for a bit of fun, these rules make it fun and keeps it simple. Thats appealing.
