Anyway only one set of an hour and once Marine Parade came up with the goods. Two lovely gurnard came home for dinner, one large Kahawai, one spiny-back (returned) and surprisingly, one very takeable conger eel. With more than enough for our evening meal -plus a couple of fillets for the neighbours, we headed home.
It was very pleasing to see the gurnard, they were of reasonable size and it's nice to know they are still around.
No red cod, but another torpedo enthusiast I spoke with had a very large cod yesterday afternoon. He brought the frame to the beach for the gulls to enjoy and it was indeed a very fine specimen.
If the promised inclement weather decides to give us a miss all should auger well for the weekend.
