Had that problem the first 90 comp i fish using sponsored okuma axons. Donated several sinkers and rigs due to defective bail arm flickn over. Bit of a pissoff when you go that far afield. Take it in to your local tackle store. Now one reel i sell which you would never have an issue with the bail arm snappn over is a Diawa cross cast . Longcast spool, and it doesn't weigh a tonne like the penn tanks!
