This is one example of something I would use. I quite like a running rig for this set up. Its about 30cm in length. I guess the goal is to mimic a swimming bait fish by getting at about the depth where you think a kahawai is hunting.



If crabs turn up then I would double the length to try and keep their greedy little claws away from my half a pilly or anchovy. Lucky I looked at that trace as I now see the hook has actually been bent by those scrappy big CHB kahawai. A good Mustad penetrator too.

Im assuming that fish was at BOP Frosty? Fishings been good there I hear.
