Hi Sean, you sound like a genuine and ideal employee who is committed to both your employer and reward him for the use of the premises and are aware of all the sorts of conflicts that can arise. Not everyone is like yourself and require a contract that I was advised at the time that legally needed to be part of the employees terms of employment as if it was not then I would run into problems with insurance of the premises. I also can see things from Colins point of view you either say absolutely no. In my experience many conflicts have arisen even with a contract, it seems even though blokes sign a contract and have it spelt out in black & white they seem to quickly developed amnesia or blindness to the rules. This has developed over the years and has caused me hassle but I still let it happen to help out my employees on wages between £18-21Ks for a 39hr week I realize this is not a fortune by todays standards.
