As an employer, I feel the need to say something on this. Most people who have their own businesses will have worked all the hours to make ends meet/earn extra money, whatever people want to class it as, when employed by somebody else, and then when setting up their own business, having built their own customer base. There is nothing wrong with that. We only have one rule, which is that we have no objection to emplyees basically running thir own business in their own time, so long as it does not interfere with our business, there employment or any tax implications. Mobile phones are not banned in the workshop so long as they are not spending all day taking bookings for that night/weekend or poaching our customers. I say our because hopefully our techs see themselves as part of our business. (does that make me stupid?). answers gratefully received. Andy
