The point I was making was that if you employ a qualified expert and ask him a specific question then he should stand by that advice. If he got it wrong it is his responsibility.
Whilst I accept it is unlikely the accountant or his insurance will simply pay the disputed ammount, they should negotiate the way around the problem as mentioned in previous posts.
If they will not do that then why bother with them for anything?
This subject has been posted on this board several times over the years. The correct information is easily available to financial professionals and is not that hard for anyone to find. No accountant has a valid excuse for advising incorrectly.
