Next step will be a shift to lease hire, which has already begun. Local Health Authority and other large organisations have schemes through which their employees can lease cars from local dealers at preferential rates. A friend of mine, (and an ex customer!) is a Medical Secretary at a local Hospital and she has leased a car from a dealer.She previously owned a 3 year old Fiesta and she has found it to be far cheaper to lease the car for 3 years with all servicing and repairs included. When the car is due for a service, she drives to the dealer and has a courtesy car to continue to work. She then returns the courtesy car and picks up her own on her way home. After 3 years, she selects a new one and continues with the lease payments.
Once the Dealers and Manufacturers have everyone doing this, there will be no need for in depth diagnostics! They will simply recycle the troublesome car and give you another one!
