this has been a problem in our area for a few years now we actually put off going into mots for this reason,(why spend 30 grand to charge less than our hourly rate) its not just the fast fits either seems like one guy puts a sign out for a reduced mot and every one else copies you can now drive through the town and see signs reading 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, the further you drive the cheaper they get,we use a local test centre and charge £45 but lots of customers are pointing out that they can get it done for less. personally i think the reason is down to bein to easy to open a test centre now, years ago it was only the well established reputable garges who could carry out mots.
