i am sure you can appeal to vosa as corrosion will be looked at up to 3 months after the mot test. other mechanical items up to 1 month after the test. clearly these brake pipes do need changing, but the old argument on brake pipes is you cannot measure the the thickness of the pipe without cutting it open so lots of garages pass and advise.i was told a few years back by our local vosa guy that unless leaking pass and advise, and a lot of local garages did this. i bought this up when i went on a refresher course, and told the opposit.
12 months ago i had a warning when the vosa guy came in and checked a test i had just done a new pipe had been fitted accross the rear on a rover 75 although the pipe was rigid did not chaf any where but one of the original clips were broke he told me it should fail and i got a warning. i said this was rediculous and that pipe would be ok this time next year. but they want to pass and advise on corroded pipes and also brake discs have got to be nearly at braking point pads near metal on metal 1.5 ml looking through the wheel. the list goes on. vosa dont stand by the testers. its now enforcement.
the vehicle shown is a bad test and there should be an appeal. i feel the test is now out of date and needs an overaul preferably by techs who are hands on and not out of touch with modern vehicles.
sorry about the rant.. john
