Customer had bought the car in late August with an MOT at a leading fast fit that is OFT approved and ATA accredited technicians. They passed it but told him it need work to front suspension (shock absorbers) and brakes......so how come it passed?
The customer brought it in for an estimate for work on the brakes and suspension as advised. There was nothing wrong with the shock absorbers, discs showing no signs of wear and pads 50% worn. So I gave the vehicle a bit of a check over, I was pretty shocked to see that this vehicle had passed an MOT just over 2 months previous
Excessively corroded metal brake pipes, front to rear (also one corroded behind OS rear wheel)
Excessive corrosion to OS rear sill panel 6 inches from main suspension mount
Excessive corrosion to NS rear sill panel 6 inches from main suspension mount
How is it possible to pass a vehicle in this condition, then up-sell the customer shocks and brakes.......I guess that why they offer cheap MOT's
I will advise the customer that his vehicle is not roadworthy and he removes at his own risk
So much for OFT approved schemes and moving the MOT to 2 year intervals
