Hi John I am not sure if there are any "cheap" waste disposal options out there The laws on waste storage, disposal and transfer are quite strict and i dont think that any collector of waste can afford to do it cheap and stay within the law Like you i have 2 large waste storage tanks that can hold 1,000 litres of waste oil. They say the collection is free, but you pay for the paperwork which is about £30:00 for each collection, the amount does not matter, be it 200 or 2,000. I was told this may rise to between £50:00 and £80:00, this is because garages are putting waste brake fluid into waste oil tanks, which makes it more difficult to process - must admit i am guilt of this As far as tyres go, the cheapest one i could find was £0:65 plus vat per tyre and will only take them if its more than a 100 Also have antifreeze and waste oil drums, these were about £30:00 the last time they were collected, but told this was also going up as well, like Phill all batteries go to our local tip for recycling I also have a large wheely bin that cost £7:60 a week to have emptied, on the agreement it says for "Garage Waste", that's a joke as most of the "garage waste" can not be put in it. Its usually full of my garden rubbish and DIY scrap The cost just has to be passed onto the customer, many reciepts i have seen have an "environmental disposal" charge at the bottom, usually about £5:00 Peter PS: We also recycle all paper, junk magazines/mail and component boxes
