Hi all, Over the last 6 to 12 months I have noticed a decline in the quality of aftermarket Cats to the extent that I now refuse to fit them. If customers want a cheap solution they can go to fast fit etc so I am not responsible. Also when it fails I can then charge again for the diagnosis. GSF over here have stopped selling Cats for BMW's (possibly all makes) as they had too many claims and say they cannot source any quality ones. Last time I was stuck for a Cat I fitted a Bosal one which failed a short time later. When dealing with the rep he admitted that Bosal were outsourcing some of their supply so God knows where they are coming from. On the subject of the P0420, it seems to me that the cat monitor test criteria is far too tight. I wonder if the levels are as set by the makers or by EOBD regs since Opel have a flash to fix this and I doubt they could raise the levels above euro specs. Alan P.S. The Focus dealer Cats are not dear.
