Mitsubishi Carisma 1.8 GDi 1999 - Loss of power, throttle body? Archived Message

Posted by Peter Holland on October 17, 2006, 6:49 pm

Customer complains of loss of power and engine light on. Posts code 92 ETV MTR FB. Code can be cleared but returns after a few minutes and engine idle jumps to around 2000 RPM. Throttle valve is not dirty, TPS scoped and looks good. I've scoped the signal to throttle valve which appears OK, but I've not looked at one of these before. On road test, the car lost all power and wouldn't respond to the throttle pedal but returned to normal on restart. I've checked out the BBA web site and it appears that the throttle body is a known problem, but they also mention valve and injector problems. I assume that these faults would not post this code....? Throttle bodys seem mighty expensive, so any tips would be much appreciated.
