I think a better indicator of public opinion will be demonstrated in the European elections. I think the increased vote for the LDs and Greens in the local elections does not in itself indicate a swing to Remain. It fails to factor in all those stay-at-home Brexit supporting Tories who feel betrayed by May. Even though I am a Corbyn supporter and a lukewarm supporter of Remain, I don't think there should be a second referendum. The people have made their choice. Corbyn's between a rock and a hard place. Whatever he does is going to upset a large section of people. He is right to support a 'soft' Brexit as a no-deal Brexit would be a disaster. Having said all that, if a second referendum was offered, I would support Remain. I would prefer to return to status quo ante and get back to trying to deal with the real issues, after having wasted all this time, effort and money on this divisive Brexit nonsense. Not much chance of that, I guess. In my wildest dreams, I hope for a genuine left government in Britain, part of the EU, and linking up with other progressive movements in Europe and elsewhere, to create a fairer, greener world. But then the cynic in me drags me back to reality.
