I can tell you honestly from personal experience that a life without FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. etc. is fine, just fine. If one is sincerely interested, curious, and bewildered by the human experience and Ultimate Reality, these three things are plenty enough: books, solitude, and direct interaction through relationship. I am partly addicted to Lifeboat. I struggle with a serious addiction to YouTube, off and on the wagon. I don't think we should encourage anyone to use social media and news media - mainstream OR alternative. We should just encourage people to think, and to nourish our thinking lives by reading substantive literature. Faith and reason, of course, are requisite to get anything out of it. Faith and reason are necessary for the health of mind and soul. The medium really is the poison. turtleman
