You are right about the larger malaise, but you are wrong to think the iPhone is a neutral thing in relation to it. TV, iPhone, world wide web and so on, are all commercial responses to voids largely pre-manufactured. And I don't know why you single out the iPhone, because the laptop, desktop, iPad etc. are all equally addictive. Get rid of the medium? I suggest nothing of the sort. I am not a fan of state OR mob intervention, as you should know from all my previous writings. I'm more with Nancy Reagan - "Just say No!" - but ya see, what made her campaign so unutterably pathetic is that a) her husband and the CIA helped flood the nation with drugs, and b) the youth she tried to appeal to could never take such an uncool church lady seriously! Look, I never ever even touched twitter, instagram or FaceBook! Why is it that I have a wonderful love life, a small band of faithful friends, and knowledge and literacy oozing outta me pours? I ain't particularly talented or genius. I just, through luck or angelic intervention, avoiding clogging my consciousness with all that social JUNK. turtleman
