I'd say, rather than reject this particular medium - which can't be prised from fingers now it's released - explore *why* people are so unhappy, so alienated, so lonely that they are prone to become addicted to a device such as this? Addiction is, at its core, an intimacy disorder. People become addicted to many things, not just media. The addiction to phones - with phones representing human connection and the longing for relationship and meaning - is a symptom of a bigger malaise. Getting rid of the medium isn't going to solve the addiction problem, unfortunately.
