Alan, I don't usually say this to you, but . . . don't be a smartass. The gist of my point is this: don't encourage people to "get" their info from here or there, but rather encourage people to think and smell the coffee for themselves. This is why I've always been annoyed by and embarrassed for, people who go around telling others to "get informed." As though the truth is something that is given to you from the outside. No! The truth is something the individual processes and determines internally. The ingredient is active thinking with conscience and reason as the internal barometer. Therefore, I thinking person can determine the truth from entirely false or faulty sources by process of deductive logic and intelligent scrutiny. Hence, Zappa's formula is totally bang on! The world is deceptive. It was and always has been deceptive . . . and (sensitive progressives pls. plug your ears!) ALWAYS will be. Therefore, it is the individual's responsibility to unravel the lies rather than consume them, and it is the parent and teacher's responsibility to gently lead children out of naivety, and encourage cognitive development more than merely imparting knowledge. How's that for further guidance, smartass? Just teasin' Affectionately, turtleman
