You can guess which option I favour! Nearly-unbelievable - but rationally-persuasive - ideas like this have to be handled with sober rationality, if we are ever to make sense of the competing, frequently reality-free narratives that are the daily fodder of hacks and pols everywhere, for the simple, practical purpose of leading naifs by the nose.
