I don't' know, Kirov, what on Earth's going on here? I am not going to waste my time countering your speculations. But, I have an issue. I regularly contribute to this site, and quite often people here make interesting comments, or refer to important information and analysis. I wouldn't visit otherwise, I think; however, maybe it's just careless habit and I've got too much time on my hands. But I also wonder who we all are? I wonder, if I were to meet up with you all, would we agree about anything, how much would we have in common or even would I like you very much? Most of you know a lot more about me, as I make no secret of who I am, than I know about you; in which case, how can I really trust what you really represent or what you say?
The internet is a strange place, and it seems to have the capacity of seriously distorting so many people's views on the world. It's making people doubt reality or their own or other's sanity and reason. There are so many ways in which the the internet could be a positive force for humanity, but has it been hijacked - not just be commercial or cynical or devious players, but by our very own selves, as we all start to retreat into cozy, but distorted, echo chambers to hear all our prejudices and inadequacies amplified ad nauseam? I don't think there's any doubt that politically and socially we've become more polarised and less tolerant of dissent and others' opinions. We're more inclined to abusive and hurtful language, the worst reserved often for people on "our side" but who's opinions and actions at times don't gel with the idealogical strait-jackets we've constructed for ourselves. The nastiness directed at Monbiot is one obvious and extreme example, and just now, the first man on the moon is no hero apparently, but just a Vietnam war criminal. (Apart from being less than generous to Neil Armstrong, you might wish to get your facts straight, Ed. Armstrong never fought in Vietnam, but did fight in the Korean war, which I think was primarily due to North Korea invading the South. He was bomber pilot, but not a war criminal. He did go to Vietnam after his moon landing as a totem American hero for the troops to cheer.) But even a truly modest, kind, humane man like Corbyn now gets it broadside from some of those posting here.
I really find it totally bizarre that I'd be communicating at any length at all with folk that seriously believe that the Apollo missions were a hoax. or that 9/11 was some sort of false flag operation. But here I am doing just that. God, that's truly bizarre.
