I agree on comparing 9/11 doubt to moon landing hoax belief; the two are very different propositions. I actually read the comment thread on OffGuardian that you posted about (before you posted about it) and I found the "debunker" to be the most logical and coherent poster in that thread (given the maniax refugee from the David Icke forum FlaxGirl is all over it that's not a high bar). I also read the complete "Wagging the Moondoggie" series and after the first two parts I was thinking, "Hmmm, there might be something to this after all" ,even though he uses dog piling in almost every paragraph which is usually a massive red flag. But when you start stripping individual assertions out of the piles of "and what about this?" and look at debunking threads and pro-hoax threads you soon find that all the major points of the pro-hoaxers have been conclusively flattened and most of the minor ones also. Some of the reasoning, even in the early parts, is pretty dreadful (the bit on the moon rocks is a good example: Nearly 270 rocks scooped up by U.S. astronauts were given to foreign countries by the Nixon administration … Of 135 rocks from the Apollo 17 mission given away to nations or their leaders, only about 25 have been located by CollectSpace.com, a Web site for space history buffs that has long attempted to compile a list … The outlook for tracking the estimated 134 Apollo 11 rocks is even bleaker. The locations of fewer than a dozen are known.” It appears then that having a ‘control rock’ wouldn’t really be of much help after all, since nearly 90% of the alleged Moon rocks that we would want to test don’t seem to be around any more. So he starts off with 270 rocks, which is actually only the number given away by the Nixon admin to foreign countries. Then he cuts to 135 from Apollo 17, then the 134 from Apollo 11 and from this mish mash of numbers he then claims only %10 are traceable. EVEN IF you ignore the jumbled mess of numbers that still leaves 10% to work with which invalidates his premise (that a control rock is not available). This is without noting that some 2,200 rocks were brought back over all the manned missions and he has nothing to say about the other almost 2000 rocks which could be used. The series also gets progressively less coherent and sensible as it goes on. Even the wiki thread which goes through the hoax claims and cites debunking sources does a good enough job. "Always keep an open mind and judge everything on its merits" seems to be what people have been asking people to do but when the wiki piece was posted you immediately dismissed it on the basis of the source. I agree wiki is worthless when there is any hint of political import; it is a pro-establishment snow factory, but for things like is I don't think that criticism is valid. Examine the points they make; look at the sources, look at their reasoning and examine other sources to see if it is valid.
