I'm incredible grateful, Mary, for all your stout work relating to the Assange Affair. I look forward to everything you contribute and am never bored, but rivitted. Keep it up, please! One of the pet hates of the rightwing UK nationalists, is the European courts and especially the European Court of Human Rights, which will probably end up as Assange's last hope of safety after the UK Supreme Court orders his extradition to Trump's USA. What's bizarre is that so many liberals and leftists dispise Trump, yet at the same time their willing to send Assange to Trump's USA to be railroaded in a political showtrial and then imprisoned in a maximum security dungeon for decades. Liberal democracy has been replaced by liberal, imperialist, democracy, and it's striking how many wars we've launched over the last few decades, and how popular they've become with western governments all desparate to show how loyal they are to Washington. Take 'progressive' Denmark as an example. Their new Social Democatic government is increasing military expenditure, increasing their footprint in Africa, Greenland and actively trainging their army for combat on the Russian steppes! If we truly live in a democracy, where are the thousands of democrats demonstrating to defend Julian Assange? I think 'liberal democracy' is over. The system now, increasingly resembles a form of 'fuedal society.' Wealth and power and the 'narrative' about who we are, is becoming concentrated in the hands of a smaller and smaller elite who rule over the mass of the population who are passive, entertained and fed, similar to ancient Rome. Are we really, and this is a litmus test, going to stand by and watch Assange being martyred, a symbol of everything we pretend to care about, being destroyed?
