Hi Folks
Thanks for the feedback. You've made some excellent points. I hadn't realised that at the time of this alleged incident, the woman was an employee of Johnson. So yes, there was a serious power imbalance there, which would have seriously constrained the woman's ability to react appropriately. So it wasn't quite as low grade an offence as I had initially thought
And my comment about women getting balls or a thicker skin was itself not appropriate.
So, treat my rant as a bit of a brain burp - not one of my most considered postings!!
I think what concerns me most about some of this stuff is how reaching back so far in time is not very fair on the accused. It's a bit like that Kavanagh case in the US. Again, a not very nice person having to defend themselves from really old historical allegations. There's generally no way to prove one's innocence, which should be the presumption.
Of course, this is not a trial in a court, but a trial of public opinion. It does help fill in the background of what sort of person Johnson is. But we knew that anyway. The Americans knew that about Trump, who even boasted of his behaviour. He still became President. Johnson is still preferred PM. For some reason this sort of mud just doesn't seem to stick, even with women voters.
