I mentioned in my posting, a few months ago when we had an earlier discussion about measles that I did remark that measles is not a nice disease at all, causing death in vulnerable children, some serious medical complications in others, including a really nasty degenerative neurological condition, and also caused a loss of general immunity in its victims which could last a year or two, I don't know if my posting is still available, but that's what I wrote. So it just isn't true that this matter has "never-before-been-noticed" but it's a more detailed and robust scientific examination of the effects of measles on the immune system, confirming what I said earlier and confirming what had been suspected or noted previously. Again, if you're a generally healthy child, living in good conditions then the dangers of measles or this immune damage won't be so marked, but in some poorer communities or countries, that's not the case. Children are dying. It is not like me to lay into people individually as I have with Andrew Wakefield, but I'm afraid this struck off doctor is a very dangerous man, convinced of his rightness, he continues to proselytise his quack science and spread his dangerous mis-information about the MMR vaccine - he enjoys a cult status in anti-vaccine circles in the US and is feted like a hero. To me, if anyone individual is responsible for the current measles epidemics around the world, he most certainly is the one. I am really angry with this miserable miscreant.
