I have three brothers and we all cross infected each other with the childhood infectious diseases. The only time I can remember a side effect from an illness was when I was sensitive to light. Chicken pox or measles? No vaccinations in those days! There was always a fear of contracting polio in my childhood and teenaged years but luckily we all stayed free. Info on the vaccine - 1950s -> vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/vk/polio As I am a gardener, I have accepted the Tetanus (TT) vaccine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetanus_vaccine Now the GPs are offering vaccinations against shingles for certain age groups. A friend of mine contracted it some years ago and said the face and eye pain she experienced was excruciating. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/shingles-vaccination/ and of course, the NHS offer vaccinations against influenza, at surgeries and pharmacies.
