War on religions, between religions and within religions have been happening a plenty throughout history, with christians having a particularly bad reputation (missionairies, the crusades). But I don't see those examples you show of tanks as part of a trend. You can equally well produce pictures of tanks, bombed out villages of muslims (Libya, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen). The elite do not give a damn about the religion of the people standing in the way of their power. Whether they're christian, muslim, buddhist, it's all irrelevant. If they need to kill 3 million Vietnamese, so be it; a million Iraqis, also no problem. Or slaughtering catholics in South and Central America if they help the poor with their socialist ideas. In fact, I think it rather suits the ptb that people feel Christianity is being attacked. Makes it even easier to bomb other cultures/religions to smithereens if people believe their main religion with its supposed values is under attack. |
