agree with that idea now - that the mundane world appears to be the virtual creation of an exterior operator - as philosophical-idealism come whamming back into fashion at the cutting edges of modern science. And the image that's hoving into view now, of the underlying reality which christians would call 'the Kingdom', certainly tallies pretty closely with the founding shamanic insights behind all the big religions; the things that they call 'god' and 'heaven'. And we'll surely keep the faith with it in the end (in those moments of grand, hugely-relieved realisation that come to our souls each time, just after we die), since we have no other option with over-weening reality but to accept it as it is... As I chase my eightieth birthday, later this year, that's the set-up that seems persuasively likely to me. The imminence of death can do that to your view of the nature of things...!  I'll check back with y'all on this matter next New Year's Day - if still around as RhG.  Till then, good New Year wished to all - despite the bloody mess! |
