Actually if you read the context of the quote "oh come off it" it points exactly to mockery of the desecration of churches, in Cyprus, though the original context was of a church in London which was smeared in stink by Takfiri supporters protesting a meet up exposing the Western crusade backed crusade against that country. Did you read it? My rhetorical "flourish" was to ask if this was the kind of "Christianity" people were at war with, for if so, I for one could hardly blame them. Yes, that was your flourish. It described your experience and was not without interest, as usual, and understandable seeing as we live in the UK. But as a comment on actual Christianity and its situation in the world today it was also blinkered I think for the reasons I gave above. That the CofE and Christianity "conflate themselves" sounds reasonable but most Christians would not agree; +/-1000 years of schismatic western man-worship is also quite well-documented. If you put on a dogcollar and scrawl a cross on a dustbin does that make it a church.
