Thanks for the anecdote. We people are fallen - that's one of the great insights. To expect people or worldly churches to be other than full of sin (-ie- to miss the mark) is to confuse perception with reality, to confuse the real with the ideal. I speak for no denomination, I'm not a bishop. I'm barely a Christian, I had a secular upbringing, I know little of Christian discipline: fasting, prayer, to say nothing of cleansing my soul. Like most wannabe Christians I'm looking for Holy Spirit in this life. For me that's gotta have actual, historical roots as well experience. Body and soul united. For me that's in Orthodoxy but like I say I'm no expert.
