I often refer to British Leyland as an example of British inability to recognise the need to change and preparedness to rely on past glories. I think it's a cultural touchstone for the nation. We're still glorying in the fact that we beat the Germans 75 years ago when in fact we did nothing of the sort. We're still, 50 years on, completely unable to recognise how rubbish we are and follow an example set in the East. What do the Chinese know? Nothing. We're Brits and we'll take it on the chin or almost worse - this is all a big hoax. It's unusual in so many ways and I don't think I've seen anything like it. If I have it happens so infrequently that I would never recognise a pattern. |
