"The central metaphor of the movie is simply a bloody lie." -Did wonder if there was any truth behind that. On Apocalypse Now, My first reaction to the opening scene was: "...Did they really just blow up all those trees and incinerate an entire landscape just for a stupid movie?" Metaphor...intended/unintended? -Heart of Darkness and Frazers Golden Bough I knew well but the lit. refs left me cold: it always just comes back to the above. |
