So we broadly agree. And I broadly agree with willem, because he's making the same points I think.

So why is there so much clashing?

On the inadequate measures, theyre not inadequate if the goal is not to get rid of covid, but to line pockets. Its useful to keep our minds on covid and away from all the other issues. You can't as a responsible member of society protest, or argue the methods being used to 'fight' covid, because it means you dont care or dont believe. Any left left has been subdued massively to the point of non-existence. Taken from a political stance its a coup de grace. People get told that the only reason theyre bitter is because they can't do all the things they did before. True, for some, like holidays abroad, or anywhere ffs! I havent had a holiday in 5 years, and that was only for a day and a half. Its more about not being able to do the things we did before, like not worry about the cost of basics, and what you have to trim off (utilities, clothes, etc). Its dire for many.

And there's a third approach, if the goal was control of covid rather than of the people; basic sanitation/masks etc. Better laws regarding sick pay for workers, and against penalisation for staying in if you're ill. No unnecessary travel (like holidays abroad or to other parts of the UK). If you have lockdowns, keep them short and uniform (not one rule for the rich and another for the rest of us), recompense for lost revenue, and for perishables.

regarding coup de grace, we should be concerned about that, but all I'm hearing is its the same as its always been, what else can we do? etc. As though we have given up.

    Well, maybe we have.
