Thanks Dan. As you say might not be as important a thing to attempt to increase trust from such communities in a vaccine which might not do even what it promises, but definitely to increase trust in the health service that might save their lives, and to limit spread within such communities. We could find positive takes from statistical data for moving ahead sensibly but not by rejecting it as irrelevant (anymore than rejecting what we find as simply a lie!). details are important. My guess is that many from such communities don't seek help right away. A lot of those concerns might come down to pure economics (like, if I self isolate every time someone in my family gets a sniffle - I've heard this one- I'll lose my job/won't be able to pay rent etc). Some have the luxury to do so, but the closer to the bread line the less chance of it. Not everyone is covered by pandemic payments particularly for those with zero access to public funds, as is the case for newer residents of the U.K. Another thing is extended families where the family actually looks after the elderly instead of simply putting them in a home. Old peoples Homes are not places for the poor: the cost is prohibitive for many reasons (even if there is money to pay for it, it cleans out the life savings of many who go in fairly quickly and in big families, the old would rather pass that money directly on to their families). So you end up with the young (in school) among the old who are at higher risk. There's probably dozens of demographical issues that push the incidents higher for black families but there's a couple. With the will we could sort some of those out, but it starts by not rejecting 2% as a mere irrelevance! I'm sure you agree but saying it as a response to the thread rather than to you. Cheers
