I have yet to make up my mind as to what I am listening to here. But I have to say his command of his own history and of his activism over the years is very impressive - I have to assume it's accurate.

I would refer you back to my recent posting where I make the comment that just labelling these riots as just right wing thuggery and imprisoning the malefactors is to miss the point about incontinent immigration to the UK and not dealing with it will continue to bring problems.

I did not make any comment on (some) moslem behaviour, which of course is a huge part of Tommy Robinson's beef. I'd be interested in any comments here from those who have listened to the interview.

Peterson's wife at the end makes some comments - she's present and contributes a bit to the interview - she admires men like Robinson who stand up for what they believe, that's why she likes Trump.

Calgary is certainly the one of creepiest immigrations I have ever been through (and I have been through a few). To be honest I can’t remember many details (I think I was trying to make a connection and they told me to stop walking briskly down a corridor or something), but lets just say Calgary is not a fairly anonymous big-city airport: I got the distinct feeling they want to be very much in your face even if you are doing nothing objectively wrong. It seemed they either like you or don’t like everyone who comes through, and are probably capable of causing substantial hindrance.

Come to think of it, Vancouver (on another occasion) was not much better. That was a weird one.

Probably, in general, Canada and me were not really made for each other, I won’t say more than that.

Anyone who inhabits the media sphere that is the "base" of LBN cannot fail to have seen at least some of the takedowns of his drivel over the last few years so the fact that you post this with the attituded of, "Hmmm this Peterson guy seems to make sense; he could be worth listening to" means you either haven't read/watched any of the criticism of his right-win Christian Conservative grifting or that it appeals to you.

It might be a bit more helpful instead of unpleasantly mouthing off at me and my posting, explaining how it is that folk like Peterson (and perhaps even Robinson) appeal to many, including now I have to say some members of my own family. I have never liked Peterson, and said so many times on these pages, but whether we like it or not, lots of folk do follow him, in which case, like Tommy Robinson, he's saying things that chime with people's own life experiences and attitudes. I find it strange that England has suffered some serious rioting with some nasty racist motivation and all one can do is imprison them or shut them up, when to my way of thinking there's something deeper going on, like perhaps excessive numbers of immigrants coming to the UK and residents of certain areas in the UK, like Luton, where Robinson comes from ,or the slowly rotting towns in parts of England, finding themselves feeling like the actual displaced people in a failing state? We've had Brexit which has likely been in a major part a vote against unrestricted immigration, yet the powers that be have totally ignored this and immigration is now higher than ever before. The right wing elite allied to the oh so caring left, and may be you, seem not to be listening or paying attention.

I live right in the middle of one of the largest melting pots in the Midlands and have paid plenty of first-hand attention to the issue. It doesn't mean I want to hear anything those two lying wankers have to say.

The powers that be are RESPONSIBLE for it. Surely you must be aware of the relation between the ruling class, neo-liberalism and immigration; they've used it to drive down wages, increase precarity and at the same time to create division (and at the same time, on the "liberal" side used it [immigration] as a signal that they are progressive).

As the economic/political system increasingly abandons the working class, the far-right step in to use "the other" as the reason for all their ills and to stir up resentment hoping to ride that wave to get nearer to real power.

Vaguely "wondering" whether there might be "excessive numbers of immigrants" and whether people might feel "...like the actual displaced people in a failing state" can be answered by looking into all of the above. Short answer, they ARE and the two people in your OP are prime suspects in exploiting that, Yaxley-Lennon being the more virulent and dangerous as far as the UK goes.

I find it hard to understand why you don't know this.

If this is true, why didn't it happen in the 50s and 60s? Working-class destitution began in the 70s because of the state not other poor people.

I wasn't aware I had blamed "other poor people" for the results of the system.

My reply was to JM's previous post (not that precludes you questioning it).

I always thought the 50s/60s immigration was primarily to fill gaps in the labour market (and as a consequence of the end of empire) so it wouldn't have resulted in the same competition, cutting of wages, scrap-heaping that is going on now.

The point is that there is no historical link between migration and the unemployment of locals. State policies of mass unemployment had nothing to do with migrants and everything to do with redistribution of wealth upwards at a faster pace.

I listened to the whole video and filed the whole thing away under “this is what he is saying” not “this is what is happening”.

“This is what he is saying”, in my view, only becomes remotely close to “this is what is happening” in the context of genuinely independent confirmation and I don’t see any - but I have not looked in detail either.

From the outside (for someone not living in the UK), I can understand how this topic can be a tricky information space. But I think it is good to be aware that it is a tricky information space from a remote location and there are people here who have probably been in the thick of it.

It's interesting to see people's reaction, in this particular case. I haven't bothered to watch the vid, since I have a presupposed attitude : ). I know who Jordan Peterson is and I get a very good notion where Tommy, double-barrel name, stands. What is the point of watching this cr*p? Hence, zero comment hehe.
