I like Off the wAll, Voules vouz and no. 1 in heaven enough that there is something in the genre worth exploring
I find it hard to understand the backlash to disco and the idea that someone who is anti-disco while at the same time like pop music. It’s pop music with a disco beat and some sycopation. How could a window dressing variation of a pop song create that much angst. The horns and strings and electronic instruments backing create more dense (and hence interesting) arrangement that is often not present in the average pop song.
My only negative thoughts towards disco genre in general is applicable to all dance oriented genre (such as funk). Potential for over-repetitive music and prioritisation on groove over melody. However that’s hardly exclusive to disco
