Went to Marine Parade at the worst time of the day (12:30pm) found the sea to be like a pond - flat as, and not another angler in sight. Forty metres out there was a very noticeable line where the disturbed, low tide cloudy water turned blue, and that is where my anchovy baits landed, just on the clear water side.

The first hit was quite dramatic and a lovely kahawhai (1.95kgs) joined me on the beach. A while later it's smaller brother kept it company in the fish bag and they made for a splendid evening meal, with a large fillet destined for the smoker in the morning. Having enough for my needs I was back indoors by 2:40pm.

I have to say how well the local beaches are fishing, it is now a rarity to cast a line without having some success, long may it last.
