The writer of that message had every right to express their opinion and resign if they felt uncomfortable with the majority decision. However, it [the e-mail] raises two questions that should be acknowledged and quickly cleared away: were the other two proposals put to the meeting, and defeated as required under rules of debate (they may have been withdrawn), were the results of the survey conducted by Bill Cronin tabled to be considered by the meeting?

If the answer to both these questions are yes, there can be no issues. If the other proposals and the survey were not tabled, then it is reasonable to expect flack from those concerned.

As Frosty has seen fit to publish this e-mail, I would respectfully suggest the matter be quickly put to bed by publishing a short extract from the meeting's minutes, where it will show the proposals were tabled and defeated by majority vote.

This kind of release through public media brings credit to nobody, and should be dealt with quickly. A letter to the writer respecting his/her right to resign and thanking them for their past service could be in order ... and quickly move on.
