I have no problem with Frosty posting the letter on this forum that I sent out to all Clubs/Members. I have always taken the stance of being open with whatever I am trying to achieve and since I was elected as National Championships Coordinator, I have tried to keep as many Clubs/Members up to date with whatever plans etc I was making. Until recently I sent a National News update to everyone that I had an address for, letting them know what was happening in the lead up to the 2014 Nationals to be held in Mount Maunganui/Papamoa. I was also keeping a National News page on the NZACA Website up to date as well. On top of this everything planned for the 2014 Nationals was signed off at Executive Committee level.

I had been warned a month earlier, by an Executive Committee Member, that my head was on the block due to my opposition to Chad Prentice's proposal. I also had this warning from a friend in the week prior to the meeting that supported the earlier warning. At this point I would like to re-iterate that I am not opposed to everything in Chad's proposal only some parts of it. I respect Chad for at least putting up the proposal.

Prior to the vote being taken on Chad's proposal the discussion was whether or not the National Championship should be addressed as a Championship or a Competition, there had been no discussion on any of the three proposals on the table, nor had there been any discussion on the Bill Cronin survey of Clubs/Members. It was moved that Chad Prentice's proposal should be accepted in principle and the vote taken was 9 in favour, 5 against and 1 abstention.

Shortly after the vote was taken I resigned my position as National Championships Coordinator and my position as an Executive Committee member. The reason for my resignation is that I felt from the mood of the meeting and the way the vote was put that the writing was probably on the wall for me. If there had been proper discussion on all the papers on the table before the vote was taken I would have accepted the result as a democratic decision.

I left the meeting immediately after my resignation and I have no knowledge of what the meeting subsequently discussed.

I have said before that I have to give credit to the supporters of Chad's Proposal, they were well organised and were able to carry the day.

Perhaps the draft copy of the plans for the future of the Nationals to be placed in front of the Executive Committee on July 25th will meet the needs of the majority of the Clubs/Members. I certainly hope so as this is all that I have trying to achieve.
