Hardy, there are very few bad fish that come out the sea, it is usually the angler who doesn't know how to handle then cook them. I feel you are being a little unfair on Gary, kindly remember this is the man who writes fishing novels on the art of angling, with international best sellers, such as 'Ray of Sunshine', 'Spin me a Line' and his Christmas special for 2015, 'Rod Rest ye Merry Gentlemen', plus the book for teenage anglers, 'Playing Hooky'. His latest musing has been understandably rejected by the censor, 'My Night with a Hooker'.

Perhaps you may wish to reconsider your post; it could bring complaints from the SPCA, The Society for the Protection of Cod Anglers.

You suggest the red cod can be hard to chuck, you then point out should he catch one, Gary finds chucking comes quite naturally.

One last problem and this was first brought to my attention by your good self. The fishing venue was to be Marine Parade. It is Gary's opinion this area is less than useless, so what makes you think he will have a fish to wind in? Just between me and you, Gary using cray for bait will serve little purpose, the fish in Napier are a pretty uneducated lot and probably don't know what cray is.
